The Role
Had a good balance of long term projects and day to day work. Was a thoroughly enjoyable experience
As long as you demonstrate the ability, they are more than happy to listen to your ideas and give you responsibility
They were happy to let me get on with my work, but were always there to help if i needed it.
If you dont let them know then they will keep sending work your way. So just dont be afraid to speak up and tell them if you are too busy.
Had a great deal of responsibility during the placement. If you are capable then you can run the show
Develop a lot of soft skills which are useful in any future jobs. Quite a broad role, so dont go into this thinking it will help you specialise.
The Company
Was quite laid back, and you are free to have a chat. As long as the work is done, then its ok.
Was very much a dive straight in placement, and this was backed up by training events.
Lot of investment, especially in the soft skills department.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
They very much view the year as an interview for the graduate scheme. So do well, and they will probably hire you.
The Culture
Number of fellow students at the particular plant was quite low.
Very much depends on which part of town you go to. Outskirts were really cheap, but the centre was pricey.
Some good nights out, and the bars were open til late.
Quite a lot of activities in the area. Lot of people in work do a lot of sports.
