The Role
Really enjoyed it the atmosphere was really inviting. and the tasks i carried out was tailored around things i like to do. Getting settled in was quite relaxing as everyone was extremely friendly and eager to help get me started There is a close knit community within all placement students biweekly forums which allows each other to discuss how there weeks have been and if any help is required. Knowing the other placement students gave me another source of information.
Every one was so open and friendly, and where always keen on listening.
Support was provided as and when i wanted it. Everyone was so open and eager to help and i was always steered in the right direction
had my fair share of work to do with few days with not much work
Was put in charge of bringing a new tool into the department and adapting it to fit the departments needs
developed some programming skills and we where given a few training course from presentation (extremely interesting by the way) to company specific training. The Training was quite useful in helping me to settle into the company.
The Company
It was very relaxed and welcoming
the year was split into two placements. This allowed for more of the company to be viewed in the year and a varied range of tasks to be completed
We had quite a few Trainings during our first placement. we where booked on a couple of whole day training courses
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
There is opportunity to move around and view a wide range of disciplines within the company
The Culture
We had a bi weekly forum as well as the ocaasional games/events nights
One would have to go into portsmouth and southampton and without a personal vehicle it could take quite a toll. but it was not too bad
Portsmouth and southampton are very lively towns but where i lived lacked in the night life department
Depending on the town you live in probably. but i spent most of my out-of-work time playing tennis, football and the occasianal visit to the gym. however there is a lot of endurance activities you can take part in.
