The Role
It was very useful to help me find out what a job as a graduate in the company would be like. However, due to the placement being during the summer, which is usually I quite period for the company, sometimes there was not very much work for me to do.
Colleagues seemed appreciative of the work I was doing.
Whenever I had a question of concern there was always someone I could ask and I always felt as though everyone was very willing to help.
Due to the placement baing during the summer period (which is normally quiet for the company), there was sometimes not very much work to do but on other days there was more work and plenty to keep me busy. The amount of work did vary quite a lot on a day to day basis.
I felt like I was given about the right amount of responsibility. For a few days I was responsible for delegating some work I was doing to an A Level work experience student.
I think this has been an invaluble experience and I have certainly learnt a lot about working in an office environment which will come in useful in future jobs. I also think that seeing some of the applications of maths in the real world will have a positive impact on my degree.
The Company
The office had a relaxed and friendly atmosphere which made it a good place to work.
One I arrived at the company I felt that everything was well organised and ran smoothly.
There were several training sessions at the beginning of the placement but most of the things I learnt where learnt on the job.
Company Parties/Events
It is still a few years until I graduate, but at present I feel as though I would be happy in a graduate role there and will definitely strongly consider future employment with the company.
The Culture
There seem to be a lot of social events going on among people in the office.
As I was only working there for two months and was not living particularly close to the office, I do not have any experience of this.
