The Role
The role was fun and exciting. I worked on multiple projects, so I got exposure a wide range of activities - obviously, there were areas of overlap between projects where I focused, but there were always new things to learn/do
On multiple occasions I've been recognised within the business for my efforts - Everyone I have worked with at LRS has been approachable, friendly, and accommodating. I feel as though I have built good relationships with my colleagues, who frequently take the time to help me out with any issues that I have.
The personal development was really well-focused and structured. I had weekly 1:1 meetings with my manager to discuss my personal development, and we undertook multiple PDP reviews. My manager has extermely supportive in "helping me find out what I want to do", and she has put me in touch with highly skilled experienced people both within and external to the business, who have been able to give me invaluable advice and guidance. I have received incredible support from my colleagues, who recognised I was an IP trying my hardest - so they went above and beyond their remit(s) to help me out, and I have learned so much and am so appreciative for them having done so.
I have been pretty busy. When your role is project-based; your workload fluctuates to an extent. Mine fluctuated from manageable to really busy. At times, I was quite stressed out; I had a lot to do and it got challenging - but in retrospect; those are the situations where I was pushed to my limits, where I saw what I was capable of; and I feel those occasions have really driven me to grow. The support was always there when I needed it; it just took me a while to realise it was ok to ask. Trust me; you would much rather be busy than bored. If you find you're too busy - ask for help. No one's expecting you to be perfect after 3 months on the job.
I was given a great deal of responsibilty throughout my placement year. I managed relationships with some of our key suppliers and agencies. I was responsible for representing the commercial function as a part of multiple project teams. I had to present to the business on multiple occassions as I led a global project through the Stage Gate process.
I have learnt so much this year; from dead basics like writing an effective email to key project management and organisational skills. It's all extremely valuable experience that I have applied outside of the role, to my personal and academic activities.

The Culture
There was only 4 IP's at LRS; so we did what we could - we all played 5-aside together. The business through regular events that we could all get involved in.
London is expensive. London is reaaaaally expensive. As a Northerner, I'm sure you can appreciate my pain! London is an absolutely incredible place, so much happening all the time, so much to do/see - I didn't want to move to London, but I'm glad I took the chance. Best decision I ever made, really happy I came down here. But yeah, I wouldn't expect to save much money while you're here...you're here to learn, not to make money
There's a Wetherspoons? Central London is 40 minutes on the tube though, so you're never too far away to pop in, just difficult getting home as tube's stop running at midnight
Lots of stuff happening outside of work, weekly football, got a lot of tickets to sports games through Lucozade and sponsors
