The Role
I have only been at my pacement for 10 weeks, and am enjoying every minute of it.
My colleagues are really friendly and sociable. I have spent a lot of time getting t know my colleague, and not just inside work but outside of work as well.
If I have a problem in work or struggling with work, my management are always there to guide me in the right direction. The othe staff are really helpful as well.
Some days are quiet and some are busy, to be honest the better days are when i am busy. But the workload is not to the point where i am becoming stressed and worried.
I have had a certain degree of responsibility up to now. I have had very realistic deadlines to meet, where the work i completed was needed to update important files for the management.
As i am studying Accounting and Finance, i was a little worried that a Risk interniship wouldn't help me develop skills related to my degree. But so far i have looked at a lot of accounts, and really understanding about where the numbers are coming from and how companies are performing based on their accounts. Also, instead of heading in one direction, which is finance. The risk placement will open doors for me, it will give me other paths to walk down, if by the end of my degree finance isn't what i want to do.
The Company
I get on really well with the fellow members of my team. Even though i work in a office, the atmosphere not just in my department is great.
The HR department, within the company orgainse everything and when i joined my work i understood my role and what was expected of me. I haven't felt, that i don't know what i'm supposed to be doing or left in the dark.
They kept the existing intern om for an extra week to allow me to shadow him. Therefore, having a god knowledge of what was expected of me and what i was going to be doing during my time with the company.

I would like to work for GE in the future, but i don't fully undertsand the chances i have of acquiring a job with GE.
The Culture
I live with three of the interns who where also working for GE, we got on well. But we also got on well with the other intern here as well. We went to the cinema, went on nights out and visited most places together where we lived.
As there where four of us, we live in a house where the rent in proportion to our pay was realtively cheap. certain pubs and restaurants where we lived where cheap as well.
The pubs around where we lived wer'e good. But the night life in town was great. As i come from the Wirral, i usually go out to liverpool which is a great night out, and Bristol matches it in every way.
We had charity bbq's, competitions and a lot of other events. GE really do create a great working environment.
