The Role
It has really confirmed that this is what I want to do. I was worried when I was put into Audit because I thought it would involve too much finance. But I loved every second.
I worked in close teams and spent 8 weeks with my colleagues so I had time to really integrate as part of the team.
I asked a lot of questions. I tried to understand things rather than just do them. So my team played a big part in guiding me.
Some days were busier than others but that is the nature of Audit.
After tasks were explained I was left to my own devices and trusted to complete things in a timely and precise manner.
I hope this internship will lead me to a career with KPMG.
The Company
There is tough work and deadlines. But the social aspect of the company is a priority and I loved being involved.
The induction was in Birmingham - a 7 hour journey from my home office and even further for some others. This wouldn't be an issue apart from the induction finished at 5pm on Tuesday and we had to be in our home offices before 9am on Wednesday. With train times etc this was a struggle.
I was given key clients and people spent a lot of time working with me to ensure I progressed.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
I hope I get offered a place. If I do it's still conditional to a 2:1 in my degree.
The Culture
There are loads of sports teams and committees to get involved in and loads of events throughout the year.
Edinburgh can be expensive - especially as it was during the festival.
Edinburgh has loads of bars etc and events on all the time.
Sports and other committees were widely advertised.
