About You
My week at Walker Morris was filled with a number of activites, meaning it was never boring. The work was challenging but interesting and the social was a great way to get to know everyone!
By the end of the week I felt like a real member of the firm, everyone made such an effort to get to know you and to check you were having a good time. The department I sat in was great, everyone was so friendly and always happy to help me when I was confused about something. My supervisor was never too busy to speak to me and my trainee buddy felt like a real friend by the end of the week.
I recieved a lot of guidance throughout the week, everyone I met was happy to talk to me and explain anything I was struggling with. Moreover, the trainee presentations, on the different departments within the firm, were a great way of preparing us for future decsions.
The research skills I learnt throughout the week and the advice I recieved will, hopefully, help me in the future when completing my degree and deciding which areas of law to focus on.
The Company
The placement was very well structured as you were given your timetable on the first day and 'reminder emails' throughout the week!
Everyone at Walker Morris seemed to really love where they worked! The atmosphere within the firm was quite relaxed so coming to work was never unpleasant and the social was great!
My supervisor constantly gave me challenging pieces of work so that I could improve my understanding and confidence. However, anything that confused was always explained by my supervisor or trainee buddy so the work never felt impossible.
I was given a lot of work they would normally give to trainees, consequently I got a real insight into what would be expected of me should I work for Walker Morris full time.
Throughout the placement I was always aware of the friendly atmosphere throughout the firm and how working at Walker Morris may be challenging in terms of the standard of work, but never dull.
Everything Else
There were trainee presentations, a welcome lunch and a mid-week social, so we were constantly able to meet other employees within the firm.
The week of the vacation placement was extremelly busy, however a real effort was made to create social events, such as the mid-week social.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend!
