The Role
Varied massively - some days(/and nights) I had masses of work which meant working until 1am every day. At other times I had nothing to do all day.
They certainly won't help me with my degree. What little I learned may be useful in a business environment
The Company
This is an investment bank. Fun is banned.
There was little co-ordination between different parts of the organisation. eg. All the interns were signed up onto the Pension scheme - the central HR had no idea what an internship was.
The teaching sessions they put on were exceptionally awful. Maybe 3 (out of the 20 we had) were interesting/useful/informative.
Company Parties/Events
There's a very high conversion rate (above 75% in a good year) from intern to graduate position.
The Culture
Pretty good, though a bit cliquey at times. Though lots of interns were too busy working all night to contemplate sleeping, let alone going out.
This is the City of London. Don't expect anything other than pretty eye-watering costs.
Some pretty good bars/pubs in the city and clubs in Mayfair. Expensive though.
There is no time for such frivolities.
