The Role
I enjoyed it! My department was interesting and provided a vast variety of opportunites to get involved with over the past year.
Despite being a large department, there is a good chemistry amongst everyone with regular team building events.
A lot of guidance was given at the start of my placement until I came up to speed and developed a good understanding of everything. After I gained sufficient knowledge of everything, there was always suffiecient support if I needed it.
There were enough tasks to do on a daily basis, this changed depending on the time of the month it was. It also gave me time to work on individual projects I was interested in as well.
I was given many reports in which I was resposible for. I was also responsible for orders forecasting for Volkswagen UK cars which is then submitted to the factory and entered into official documents.
I have now learned to use Excel and Powerpoint to an advanced level which I can use at university and my future career. My time management and organisation skills have also improved which is a life lesson. I received regular reports on the economy which maintains economic knowledge for when I return to my degree.
The Company
Very good balance between having fun and knowing when to purely concentrate on your work. Friendly and open atmosphere allowed for networking.
The structure was based around the normal monthly, quarterly and annual activities of the job role and brand. Organised well as my role has been in my department for many years now.
I was put onto 4 training courses and also gave presentations for interview skills. There was also scope to learn skills in other departments to develop talents in other areas of the business.

The Culture
With around 25-30 other placement students, there is always plenty to do in the evenings. Collegues are keen to spend time socialising with the team as well.
Costs are more expensive than student living but very much affordable- especially with a salary.
There are many bars and a couple of clubs in a range of genres/for different social scenes.
There are many football opportunities and facilities in the area for skiing, golf and horse riding.
