    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was great fun and very informative of how software development is conducted in a global business. The work was both challenging but also incredibly interesting; at the forefront of technology.

  • The teams provided constructive and friendly feedback about the work and valued our contribution as interns to the company.

    4/5

  • The supervisors provided constructive and friendly feedback about the work which helped the direction of the projects.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workload was high, but it was interesting so whilst often busy it was not at all dull. This would depend on the project given, however.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were in pairs and would collaborate on ideas together with equal say and impact. Ultimately the supervisors would listen to these ideas and make decisions with us.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learnt at BT were of extreme value and I got an incredible amount of exposure to technologies I'd never used at university. It has been a huge help to know aspects of software development is business and picking up knowledge of new tools and technologies.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a lot of hard work being done by all but the atmosphere was incredibly friendly and having a quick coffee while talking about the progress to other teams was a nice way to get new ideas.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was organised very well and everything was planned for us perfectly. Several interns did have issue with tax-codes and pension-schemes however, but we were provided with guidance for this.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company put a lot of effort into giving us everything we needed to fulfill the goals of the project ranging from hardware, software and just general advise.

    4/5

  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The employment prospects were very good. Those who performed well were invited to an assessment centre. The prospects are very good and diverse; people can progress into almost any area.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Whilst working there the current graduates invited us out many times and it was the perfect way to meet new people in the department.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home due to being local but other interns weren't too displeased with the amount paid for rent. Socialising costs are also very fair.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are multiple bars and clubs around the Ipswich area which we went to several times.

    4/5
