The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed being with Savills, the team were all really friendly and encouraged me to engage with all aspects of what they do. The internship has given me a fantastic introduction to what working in property development is all about.
Most of the time they had something for me to do and would seek me out to do it which definitely made me feel valued and involved.
Really helpful, approachable team that gave me all the help I needed but also gave me the opportunity to use my initiative and do what I thought needed to be done.
Sometimes at the end of the day I would run out of things, but that gave me time to complete my handover folder for the intern program so I was never bored. The access to APC material also meant that I could gain a better insight into that if I was ever waiting for work.
As an intern I thought I wouldn't be given much responsibility at all but I felt that there was sufficient to engage me more, although I wouldn't have minded more.
With regards to gaining a job in the industry I feel that this experience will be invaluable as it has given me a real insight into Savills, development and property that will enhance my CV and increase my value to any potential employers.
The Company
The team are quite loud, which I liked. There were periods of quiet and then a bit of a buzz which meant the day was always varied and enjoyable.
Sometimes I could have fitted in more work, but that was the only thing. If I found myself with nothing to do after asking the whole team, then I would just add to my handover folder or read up on the APC pathways and recent Savills deals.
I felt like I was doing more complex things towards the end of the internship, with little or no supervision and that was great to feel that I had learnt alot and they felt I was good enough to get on with things.
Financial Bonus
I have been asked if I can do more with them over the summer.
The Culture
They make a real effort to be sociable, and are a very social office/teams so it was very easy to get involved with things.
Pretty average, its a studenty area so some places are very cheap but others are a bit more inflated in the nicer parts. Nothing on London though.
Very studenty so just a bit crazy really!
Yes - Softball, client events and birthday drinks/stag do's
