The Role
I had a fantastic year and got a tremendous amount out of my placement year and would recommend it to anyone! Like all jobs however it has it's up and down points.
I did two placements, one where I felt extremely valued as I was completing work relevant to the team and one where I was mostly doing background work which didn't really contribute to the team significantly, hence I felt less valued.
As quite an independent person I only approached my manager for guidance when needed. Support was always available though if I needed it.
Good balance of busy and quiet periods that vary from day to day.
Work varied between placements but overall I was given a good amount of responsibility. I asked for and was given more responsibility on a couple of occasions.
I gained so many skills in my year overall by completing the work assigned to me on the engineering internship as well as the trainees community project. The skills will mostly be suited to the working environment.
The Company
People generally got on with there work however teams within the company varied.
Was well organised - only issues were IT related.
My personal development was helped hugely by completing the internship. In terms of additional training and structured development however the internship lacks in comparison to the apprenticeships and graduate schemes. Further personal training and development is restrained by training budgets which year long interns are part of.

I would love to have a career with Rolls-Royce and to build on the fantastic experience I've had! Waiting to hear if they'll have me back!
The Culture
Great social scene amongst the summer and year long interns. Everyone was extremely friendly and got along very well!
Lived in a nice area central of Bristol made it easy to socialise however came at its cost.
Bristol is an awesome night out however a Rolls-Royce is based at the very edge of the city.
Apprentice Association for all interns, apprentices and graduates provided a lot of opportunities to get involved in and mix with others.
