About You
I really enjoyed my time at Pinsent Masons and gained a good insight in to the culture of the firm and the type of work that they do.
I immediately felt like part of the team as everyone was very friendly and approachable.
I received a large amount of support from my trainee buddy and supervisor. They also gave me good feedback on the work that I carried out.
Coming from a non-law background, I feel that I have learnt a lot about commerical law and developed important skills which will assist me in the GDL and LPC.
The Company
The vacation placement was very well structured. We were provided with a timetable a few weeks before starting and they kept to the timetable very well. This involved practice presentations, social events and assessments.
The general atmosphere was very welcoming, everyone I came in to contact with was very friendly and willing to answer any questions I had. There was also a good atmosphere between all of the vacation placements students.
I did not attend any personal training and development sessions.
The placement gave me a good insight in to the type of work I would do if I were a trainee at the firm.
I got a really good insight in to the culture of the firm as I got to meet lots of different people, who were all very friendly and welcoming.
Everything Else
We had quite a few of events over the two weeks. A few involved some of the partners and others just involved talking to the current trainees.
I enjoyed all of the social events. We had two big socials, pizza making and a comedy club night. We also had a partner lunch and office drinks.
My trainee buddy told me about the office touch rugby and football team. We also had a talk about the CR programme Starfish which involves going in to schools to help students with their literacy and numeracy skills.
I have really enjoyed my placement and I have definitely learnt a lot about the firm and the work that they do. I think it is a really valuable experience for anyone looking at a career in commercial law.
