About You
During the two weeks I was lucky enough to be involed in a whole range of experiences, from sitting in on client meetings, to attending conferences and drafting documentation. It completely confirmed my desire to pursue a career in commercial law at Pinsent Masons LLP.
The Litigation department are incredibly welcoming and happy to impart information to help you progress during the scheme. They give you immediate responsibility and encouraged client contact from the beginning. A social bunch who are very easy to get along with.
My trainee buddy and supervisor were always on call for help and support. The wider team were also forthcoming in having conversations to provide an invested and informative experience. Solicitors and Partners alike were happy to provide feedback and insight on work and there is an overall atmosphere of support within the team.
Firstly, experiencing the work ethic and environment of the firm has been vital in securing my interest in working at Pinsent Masons LLP. The goals I set myself at the beginning of the Vacation Scheme were all realised, hence providing me with skills and knowledge that will directly benefit me in my GDL, LPC and moving forward into a Trainee role.
The Company
Staying in the same department for both weeks is key in understanding what it is really like to work here and rewarding in the sense that you achieve much more during the time available. Practice presentations were well delivered and provided a real insight into the potential trainee seats available. Socials were very well organised and enjoyable as well.
Committed yet fun. The great thing about the experience is not knowing what you are going to face each day and there is a genuine sense of excitement about that, which transpires across the department. An embrasive team who anyone could continue to learn from day after day.
Forthcoming in providing me with opportunities to learn from the team and development a general scope of legal experience. Involved me with drafting and legal research wherever possible and provided exposure to important cases and settlements where appropriate.
The Vacation Scheme provides a very clear and transparant experience of what it would be like to work at the firm. From range of clients to scope of work and also experiencing how the employees are perfectly aligned with the values of the firm.
The Vacation Scheme has been pivotal in recognising the firm's overall strategy. It confirmed how they are a forward thinking firm, where they see potential growth and what the focus is moving forwards, particularly on an international basis.
Everything Else
Absolutely. Although there is of course a sense of responsibility on the student to capatilise on these opportunities. All employees are approachable and happy to respond if reached out to.
Plenty of opportunities to be involved in social activities. We attended a comedy night, bowling, softball match, office drinks, etc. It is a great opportunity to mingle with the trainees and also the other Vacation Scheme students who could well be your future peers.
There are plenty of opportunities to join sports teams, which is a great way to meet people and have fun! The CSR work also provides lots of programmes that you can get involved in whilst working at the firm.
Without a doubt.
