About You
The VAC scheme really was a fantastic learning process. I was made to feel at home from day 1 and got involved in social and sports events on evenings. An all round great experience!
I felt highly valued. I got to talk to my trainee buddy a fortnight before I started the VAC scheme. I was given 'real' trainee work throughout the scheme and the support I needed to take full advantage of all of the opportunities. I felt like I got to play a valuable role in the team, working with people from all levels of seniority.
My trainee buddy, the current trainees generally and everyone I met during the scheme provided a great deal of guidance and support. I'm very impressed with the firm!
I learnt a lot of useful techniques for working efficiently in a large, multi-office organisation. These are all skills which I will use when I return to work after the placement.
The Company
The VAC scheme really was structured seamlessly. We were provided with detailed timetables on day 1 with carefully planned induction, time in our departments, social events and training contract assessments.
Very professional, friendly and supportive. I felt valued and received great opportunities throughout my time with the firm.
They invested a great deal of time and effort to ensure that I got the most out of my time with the firm. We received formal training during out induction and further support and guidance within our teams. I played for the firm hockey team twice and attended lots of firm social events which PM invited me to.
Whilst the timetable is very busy, I had time to talk to people in a great variety of different roles. Everyone's attitude and approach to what the firm does is refreshing and forward-thinking.
PM doesn't just tell you what the firm culture is like. The firm provides you with lots of opportunities to experience it yourself. It was a very positive experience.
Everything Else
I was paid and received travel expenses for the first day which was based in the firm's London office.
Everyday. I attended firm drinks, a Cluedo social night with trainees, I went bowling with the current trainees, I was taken out for dinner with three partners and I played for the firm hockey team and went for a drink with clients afterwards.
Brilliant!
I did indeed. I was given the opportunity to join in too.
A brilliant all-round experience. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone interested in a career in a commercial law firm.
