The Role
From the start I was made to feel comfortable by both the other interns and the Hr staff and from then on every moment was enjoyable. The tasks I undertook were challenging but I felt I had the right training and I tackled them well. The support given by the HR team was tremendously valuable offering feedback and the opportunity to review and assess my performance as the year went on. My manager is also very supportive whilst giving me the best training I could have whilst not 'holding my hand' through the various tasks and projects.
I felt a valued part of the team when settled into my office which helped me feel more comfortable and confident with the work I was doing.
My manager was someone that offered a tremendous amount of support and is someone that i really get along well with. He was fully aware of the needs of my internship and tailored my experience to meet my requirements.
With my role the amount of work depended on the time of year as i had the opportunity to attend many trade shows which required seasonal work at different times of the year. However when not attending trade shows, my different projects and day to day tasks kept me busy but not overwhelmed.
As I was working closely with my manager I had the opportunity to take part in major decision making whilst also leading my own projects which made a genuine difference to how the company works. I had control over where I took my projects and the approach I took.
All the skills I learnt on the internship are fully transferrable into any business environment which is a massive bonus to any CV. The interns had specific training days throughout the year which provided a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills whilst building relationships with the other interns who may not be on your site.
The Company
I had the opportunity to create lasting relationships with all of my colleagues and hope to see them after I finish my time here.
The intern leader clearly communicated the structure throughout the year and I felt I knew what was happening at all times.
As mentioned, we had extensive training days specifically for interns along with the on the job training we received on our respective sites. The support and time invested in the interns was staggering to see and a real help to review our progress as the year went on.
Company Parties/Events
I hope to progress to the Graduate Leadership Scheme Eaton offers at the end of my degree.
The Culture
Meeting up at the various training days was a fantastic way to build and cement relationships. This sparked from the first intern event and continued on to the milestone event at the end of the placement.
This really depends on the site you are assigned, I had the opportunity to work near London whereas other interns were based all over the UK so the cost of living and socializing really depends on where you are based.
Again, it definitely depends where you're based. London is a top night out!
Very dependent on what you are personally interested in.
