The Role
The work within my specific job role was mediocre, it was mainly administrative work but I had lots of support from my team and management to take on extra tasks which meant I got a lot more from my placement.
I undertook the same job role as everyone else in my team, I wasn't treated as an intern as I had the same responsibilities. We worked as a team to achieve the same team goals.
I had lots of support and encouragement from my team, they were always willing to help. I felt part of the team.
The work load was designed to enable an intern to take on additional roles and responsibilities within the department or outside of this. The role was busiest towards month end which meant I had a quiet period at the start of the month to work on extra activities.
I managed the contracts of a group of accounts this activity is inclusive of the End to End Contract Administration Processes, Registration, Quoting, Amendments and Renewals.. I worked closely with the sales team to ensure that the customer requirements were met, I attended customer meetings and was occasionally given responsibility to resolve issues with the customer directly.
I enhanced my skills and learnt plenty of new ones. I was given lots of opportunities and experiences, definitely a worthwhile placement!
The Company
Good office atmosphere
I was only the first intern to work in this team so they did not have much training/support materials but I worked with my manger this year to develop a more formal training programme. There is a one month hand over period with the the current intern.
Lots of opportunities for extra training which was voluntary, I took part in nearly all opportunities I was presented with.
Sports and Social Club
I would be happy to work for HP in the future.
The Culture
Good intern community, over 50 interns in Bracknell, very good atmosphere lots of social events and a social committee to organise and run events.
Living was fairly cheap. Socialising was a bit more expensive, in the town itself with the interns it was standard student prices during the week but often with work it is more convenient to go out on weekends.
A few small clubs and pubs in Reading town centre.
Intern socialising.
