The Role
The overall experience has definitely exceeded my expectations of a placement year and the value which it adds for students
I was made to feel very welcome by every team I worked with, giving a collaborate feel to the workplace
Your placement experience heavily depends on this guidance and I have been fully supported throughout the year with regular management contact and the opportunity for personal input into the job
Although this varied at different times of the year I am generally kept busy - and at quieter times am able to pick up additional work which may be of interest/benefit
Given much more responsibility than I imagined as an intern - with opportunities to manage own projects and initiatives
Opportunity to practice transferable skills which cannot be taught in university
The Company
Always a lot of activity going on
Some issues with setting up systems in the beginnng
I was given a lot of opportunity for personal development though this may vary according to individual job roles/line managers
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
The company are keen to invest in young people and offer good opportunities for career development
The Culture
Generally this was organised among the interns without company input
Reasonable depending on where you go
No nightlife in Slough but surrounding areas including Reading are better and really easy to get into London
I was involved in a lot of external networking events as part of my job role
