    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a great, relaxed atmosphere with really friendly people. Given real job roles with proper responsibility but the necessary support network around to help.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • There were around 50 interns within Telefonica and we all got on really well. As for other employees they were all really approachable, helpful and supportive whenever I asked for guidance.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Great support system. I was assigned a manager who gave me my main project and support me alongside throughout the internship.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Due to the nature of my project there were some quiet spells but I filled the majority of those with smaller projects that could be picked up and put on a back burner when necessary.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was put in charge of my own project that I led, managed, nurtured and conducted how I felt appropriate. I had to work with various virtual teams throughout the business.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Through having my own project for the year I developed a huge number of skills that can't be taught in a lecture theater. Teamwork, management, organisation were some but also passion for a job role and enthusiasm to get thoughts to become reality.

  • Through having my own project for the year I developed a huge number of skills that can't be taught in a lecture theater. Teamwork, management, organisation were some but also passion for a job role and enthusiasm to get thoughts to become reality..

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Some of the systems took some time to get up and running but following that minor glitch there was great contact with my manager as well as the intern team.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was constantly having meetings with my manager about how I could make myself more employable and how the business could help facilitate these.

    5/5

    Subsidised Canteen

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The graduate scheme run closely alongside the internship programme and I worked with the graduates on a daily basis. This makes it an exciting and tangible option for a post-graduate job.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Although I lived at home which was quite far away (an hour drive) many of the interns lived in the area and we had nights outs, 5 a side football teams and intern days.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Based on those who lived in the area where I worked (Slough) the cost of living was not too expensive but not really cheap. They were left with a good amount of spending money after rent and food.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There were interns working in Leeds which is a student town where rent can be found very cheap and the nightlife is great. Slough's nightlife isn't nearly as good but the close surrounding towns including Reading, Windsor and Maidenhead we all good places to have a good time.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were football tournaments, local sports club, various offers on tickets for all number of performances at the o2 arena that were made available to staff.
