The Role
I have absolutey loved working for O2. I was a bit nervous to start off with, working for such a large company, but as soon as I started, I fitted right in. It is such a laid back atmosphere, and I would like to come back as part of the grad scheme. Being on the Talentum scheme, all the interns are pretty close. We have been able to work on projects together, which has made my placement more enjoyable.
I do not feel like an intern at all, but another crucial member of the team. If I do a good job I get recognised. I have even won vouchers for some of the work I have done and have been taken out for lunch.
If I ever ask for suppot my line manager is always there to give it for me. However, I have had 3 different line managers who have all held high posiitons, so sometimes it is difficult to track them down. But, there is always someone else willing to help in the team.
My role is quite different from everyone else's. I do not do weekly tasks, but concentrate on one big project at a time. Which, sometimes lead to me not having a lot of work to do, which is not the way I like to work. However, during the less busy times I was able to network, get involved with other independant project and mentoring sessions.
Being an intern I wasnt expecting to get that much reponsibility. however straight away when I started I was leading workstreams and projects. I even got to lead an intern project.
The Company
The office is such a fun place to be. Quite often by reception phone companies and O2 would give out free stuff in recesption which maked the office a fun place to be. On my first week of my placement I was given a magic box to help me 'Be More Dog'. During the world cup, my department hosted Fifa matches on the Xbox. During lunch myself and the other interns can play on pool tables. It is such a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
Talentum have organised it really well. And my line managers have been brilliant, coming up with monthly plans.
Not as much as the grads, however we have had the opportunity to attend training.

We have the chance to apply for the graduate scheme, which they are doing an internal assessment centre for, However, it is fiercely competitive.
The Culture
In Marketing there are 16 intern and we are all pretty close. Always going out on a weekly basis. Quite often we go out with the other interns as well. Its a really nice atmosphere.
I live at home so no cost. Going out is quite cheap in Reading and Windsor.
Not as good as uni but good enough.
Was able to help out with Wayra, which is startup companies like GoCarShare. I also participated in Think Big School which aims to help young children come up with business ideas.
