The Role
I enjoyed the opportunity to taste what it is like to work as an actuary but not so sure about that career.
Everyone was friendly and welcoming and we were entrusted with real work from day 1.
Spoke daily to my line manager and had buddies to sit next to, to whom we could ask all the silly little questions to.
Took a little while to get the balance right between too busy and too bored.
We worked on proper clients from day 1 although the work was only small pieces that went towards the final piece.
I learnt very useful skills not for university but for my my working career.
The Company
All my colleagues were friendly, young and we went out on socials at least once a week. A number of people in the office also were part of office sports teams.
It was well planned and organised. The only downside was that it was organised centrally by the graduate recruitment team and we had a line manager in the office and the line managers didn't seem to be informed by the graduate recruitment team of what they had organised.
Obviously there is only so much that can be done during 6 weeks but we had around 8-10 'training' presentation or 'celebrity sessions' which helped us to get to grips with what is going on. It is very similar introduction as the graduates would get.

Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday

Within this office they generally have 3 interns over the summer and you all have an equal chance and may all get offered a graduate place but in general two of the interns become graduates with this office.
The Culture
Lots of socialising opportunities.
The general rule within the company is interns don't pay for anything so socialising is cheap! And the company support you with accommodation or travel costs.
Reasonably good nightlife.
There were many social opportunities with someone qualifying as actuary, someone leaving, the office summer social, a regular pub quiz, football team, charity socials for those climbing Kilimanjaro etc and as interns we are expected to organise a social also which helps you get involved in none work activities.
