The Role
There were quiet periods where I didn't have too much to do, but for the most part it was a very active and interesting placement, and I enjoyed the opportunity.
People were willing to give up their time to help me through things I didn't understand, show me how to use software I'd not used before (etc)
I worked under multiple supervisors whilst on my placement, and they were all willing to offer a good deal of support and guidance where I felt uncertain about the tasks I'd been given.
There were definitely some quiet periods, but there were also really hectic days.
There was a fairly good balance between responsibility given and support given to me.
I've taken away a lot of practical and industry knowledge that I'd have missed out on if I hadn't undertaken a placement. I believe I'll be able to use a lot of the skills I've developed when I return to university for the remainder of my studies.
The Company
The other people in my office were always really nice to talk to, and were willing to offer help if needed.
The only negative I can think of was that there wasn't much feedback given after I'd completed tasks. I'd liked to have known how the people I was working for thought I'd performed.
I was sent on multiple training courses as well an induction course to help me get to grips with the full range of what the company did, and to develop skillsets.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Healthcare/Dental
At the end of my placement I was offered sponsorship, a summer placement for the following year and then (provided I obtain a 2:1 in my studies) a place on the graduate scheme after I graduate.
The Culture
The graudate community is very active and social at Rochester.
I lived at home because it was quite nearby but in general the area isn't too expensive.
There are a few pubs near work and in the area but most of the nightclubs are a taxi ride away, in Maidstone.
The graduates partake in several sporting activities and they're happy to invite anyone interested along. The company's wellness scheme also did sporting events as well as day trips.
