The Role
3 placements were completed around the company. 1 placement was brilliant and was great for personal development. Another placement was average with no responsibility and dull work. Placements are chosen by the student so you just need to know where to avoid.
This varies placement to placement. One placement I felt that I became an integral member of the team yet another I was very much the temporary guy on the sidelines.
One placement I was supported brilliantly. Another I had less support.
In the placement where I was valued and became a part of the team I had a perfect workload however, in another placement I found that I didn't have as much work as desired.
I was given large amounts of responsibility in one yet very little in another.
I've learnt how to handle myself in a business environment and also experienced managers using very different methods to differing levels of success. This will be useful when managing others as I will know what not to do!
The Company
Work as usual. The working environment was generally focused with a small amount of chat. Depending on the department and those in the department.
The placement seemed professionally organised for the majority of the time.
Any development was dependent on the department that you were working in. If your current manager was interested in your development. Some provided lots of opportunities whereas others provided none.
