About You
I found it a thoroughly enjoyable 2 weeks, and an excellent insight into an international commercial law firm. I enjoyed getting hands on experience working on ongoing legal matters alongside my supervisor.
I felt very valued and very much part of the team in both departments that I sat in over the 2 weeks. I was included in departmental meetings, and invited to get involved in key aspects of work. This supported my preconception that Taylor Wessing has a strong team-focused work ethic.
Excellent guidance and support in both weeks: I found it valuable having a trainee buddy as well as a supervisor to turn to for advice or guidance.
Honed and improved my research skills and attention to detail through completing research tasks and drafting.
The Company
Excellent structure: I think the 'Focus On' sessions giving a insight into different practice areas were a great addition. I also valued the informal drinks events in the office and outside, as well as the welcome and farewell lunches.
Friendly, welcoming, and good-humoured atmosphere.
Coming from a non-law background, I felt that the lawyers I worked with invested a great deal of time in me. Everyone was always willing to explain matters and points of law to me as well as being extremely patient whenever I had any questions.
I feel I gained an invaluable insight into life as a trainee at Taylor Wessing. I undertook typical trainee tasks, and had the opportunity to speak with many different employees within the firm to fully absorb the culture of Taylor Wessing.
I experienced a friendly and easy-going culture, whereby lawyers worked hard, but still maintained a sense of humour and regularly shared a joke with colleagues. This is the kind of down-to-earth, affable environment I would like to work in.
Everything Else
I was paid £250 per week which I felt was a generous amount and more than covered my expenses.
Plenty of networking events including two in-house drinks events in addition to lunches and external social events. It was good to see so many senior employees attending these events too.
Two really fun external social events with the trainees at the firm: we went to All Star Bowling alley and the Comedy Store.
I talked to one associate who plays football every week in a Taylor Wessing sports team.
Wholeheartedly recommend this vacation scheme. I had an excellent two weeks and feel I gained an invaluable experience by being at Taylor Wessing.
