About You
Given a range of important tasks and equally administrative tasks but always things that are necessary to the department so you feel useful and valued.
Supervisor and buddy systems were incredibly helpful - trainee buddy can help with small issues and has been in your position recently and supervisor is a way to be sure of having work/someone to coordinate your time within the dept.
Absolutely feel like I know what it's like to be part of a solicitors' firm and learnt a lot of practical things as well e.g. letter-writing/minute-taking etc...
The Company
Incredibly well organised. We were never at a loss for something to do and the vac schemers all bonded immediately which is a credit to the trainee recruitment team.
Everyone at the firm is friendly and willing to help out and most nights the vac scheme students had an event planned so always fun.
We had two days of training at the start of the vac scheme which were intensive and difficult to be fully interested in but obviously necessary. The supervisors and buddies and trainee recruitment team were all committed to helping out and were, in my experience, all extremely useful.
Absolutely feel part of the firm already and don't feel that much would change if I were to work here afterwards.
Feel like I've got to know everybody and how the firm works and its politics etc... You are not held back from any of the internal operations of the departments.
Everything Else
Very generous expenses.
Almost every day we had some kind of networking session or drinks, including bowling and karaoke, a pub quiz, networking training and a partner dinner.
Fun and friendly and well-organised.
We had a short talk on charity work etc but the rest you can glean from talking to colleagues.
100%. It has been a really fun three weeks and I will miss the firm and people I've met here when I leave.
