The Role
The placement was very enjoyable and there was a great ambience between interns.
Mayer Brown is a firm that values its employees and that was felt by all vacation schemers.
Supervisors were, as expected, rather busy at times, but they always found a moment to catch up and/or explain a task.
For the first two weeks of the scheme I was very busy, arriving early and leaving late to meet deadlines set by my supervisor. However, things calmed down considerably in the final week.
I was given interesting work to do and felt that my work was valued.
The various research based tasks I was given were very applicable to my English and French degree and I also learnt much about the methods to research cases to support a case.
The Company
Everybody seemed motivated and pretty laid back.
Things were excellently organised. HR found the perfect balance between social events and real work.
The scheme set high standards for all work submitted, meaning that we were constantly forced to raise our game. However, employees always took the time to go over things to offer advice on how things could be improved.

Company Parties/Events
I have taken the relevant assessments for the training contract and am not sure about the outcome.
The Culture
Everybody bonded extremely well and we organised a few social events outside of working hours as a group. There was great diversity among the interns and very few egos.
The area is expensive, but most things were paid for by the firm. The canteen was also subsidised, meaning we didn't spend much on lunch.
The office is next to Shoreditch which is a very lively and hipster area.
I attended the firm's summer party and I know another intern who was invited to play for a departmental cricket team in a match against a client.
