The Role
The whole experience has been one of the best in my life.
Everybody is so friendly, other interns and HP employees. There is a nice atmosphere, jokes and laughter.
HP has a open door policy; if you have any questions you can ask anyone for help and you will receive it. You also have regular meetings with your manager and mentor to keep on top of work and progress.
Yes I had many different jobs to do from organising HP's contribution to a careers event to testing fixes for customers. As I am in product support work can come in quite suddenly due to any customer problems that arise.
Yes, lots of responsibility, straight away I was made to feel valued by the way my team trusted me with work.
I have learnt so much about the general business world, I've become far more confident as a person and in my abilities, I've been able to apply what I've learnt in my degree to industry and have learnt many skills that I wouldn't have done at university.
The Company
There is such a good relationship between employees and interns. The interns also have a great bond and socialise together outside of work.
Little vague when starting - was told there would be an induction day with other students and never received notice. Took about a month for someone supporting placement students to get in touch but now a much better support environment.
HP had a wealth of training that you can access at anytime, this includes training for your role but you are also encouraged to develop in areas you wish to progress in.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
HP have many graduate positions and are ever expanding.
The Culture
Yes, interns have nights out together and HP organise a lot of socials for staff.
Bristol can be cheap and expensive depending where you live, housing nearer HP is cheaper. Bristol itself has an amazing student scene and therefore has many cheap nights out.
Bristol has amazing nightlife and has something for everyone, multiple student nights every day of the week!!
Lots of sports and other things to get into. Bristol is very varied and an amazing place to be.
