The Role
Excellent exposure to a broad range of engineering disciplines.
Felt like a fully integrated member of the team, real work completed - not sat behind a computer each day!
Thrown in at the deep end but plenty of engineers to give support where required.
Never bored, often too busy with people in demand of my time.
Responsible for project with over £200k annual savings.
Wide variety of topics covered, felt had an advantage when returned to university for final years.
The Company
There was a diverse range of personalities within the department, but everyone was very friendly and approachable. There was a great student/graduate atmosphere.
The programme is centrally managed with specific line management. regular review meetings were held.
Completed over 5 train courses, including a 4 day IOSH Managing Safely residential course and 2 day Confined Spaces training course.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Offered a position on their International Graduate Scheme upon completion of my degree.
The Culture
Lots of fellow students and graduates around, certainly not stuck for things to do in the evenings and weekends.
Accomodation was fairly cheap if sharing a house, I paid £250 per month leaving plenty over for socialising.
Peterborough is what you make of it. Don't expect nights out every night of the week but Thurs, Fri and Sat is certainly worth a visit into town.
A few social clubs to attend, occasioanl barbeques and evenings out.
