The Role
Role threw up many different and varied challenges to face every day. No two days felt the same.
Despite being an intern, I was very quickly accepted as part of the team and given a level of responsibility that reflected this.
I felt I was able to approach my mentor and manager to resolve any issues. When I needed help they were always on hand to support me.
This varied, some days I was rushed off my feet while others felt a little slower. On balance though, there was more than enough work for me to do.
Without interns GE Aviation would cease to function as a business. Interns are given a lot of responsibility, but also a lot of support so you are never left feeling overwhelmed.
Learned good time management and effective prioritisation skills, as well as technical knowledge and report writing. Learned how to communicate effectively.
The Company
Generally friendly, most team members were up for a laugh however fully focused when required.
Some computer access issues initially but overall reasonably smooth.
aught the basics of lean six sigma and encouraged to practice giving presentations. Some more training would have been nice.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Hard to say at this stage, however it appears that there are roles available for top performers.
The Culture
A lot of the interns are up for social activities outside of work.
Cardiff is a fairly cheap city to live in.
Could be better for a capital city, but more than enough to satisfy most.
Endless opportunities to volunteer and make a difference in the local community.
