The Role
I had an amazing year at Disney, where i gained new skills and professional experience, as well as having an enjoyable time.
I really felt a valued and respected member of my team.
My team were always helpful, giving me support whenever i had questions or needed guidance.
The amount of work interns were given seemed to vary considerably between different departments. As a market research intern i felt i had just enough work, however i know some of my colleagues felt they were given too much.
I was given more responsibility as the year work on, as my confidence grew. By the end of my internship i felt i was really contributing to the significant and important tasks, including running meetings.
All the skills i've gained through the last year, will help me considerably in my first year at uni and in my future career.
The Company
The office was relaxed and welcoming.
The induction and starting procedures all ran smoothly. Unfortunately, there werent any follow up talks/information after starting.
Disney invest in courses and presentations but i often felt that interns were given last choice/priority. Having said this, i did get to attend many development sessions.
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I would love to return to this office, however there aren't many opportunities for future employment (no graduate schemes).
The Culture
There are so many interns within the office (about 150), so there are lots of opportunities to make friends. I've made some friends for life from this internship.
London is expensive in general. Socialising outside of work costs a lot.
Nightlife was good in the surrounding and nearby areas. There were plenty of places to go for social events with work colleagues.
There were many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work with other interns, however there were many activities with more senior members of staff.
