    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I found it a struggle to find work a lot of the time, but really enjoyed meeting the other vacation schemers and trainees

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I think I was just a bit unlucky with my supervisor who was very busy and didn't have much time for me. Furthermore the work I was set was quite basic and I didn't ever receive feedback on it or anything so I didn't know whether it had been good or useful or if I was just being given it to keep me busy.

    2/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • See above - my supervisor was too busy to really take much notice or offer much support and guidance. My buddy was fantastic though - really helpful.

    2/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It's helped me see that law is something I would like to do - the firm organised Focus talks on all the different sectors in which it is involved which meant I could see what went on in other departments to the one I was sitting in.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • They had organised it very well, with lunches with our buddies, and social events, as well as our talks and presentations.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • We had some fun social events but there were quite long hours involved and it did get a bit lonely at points as I wasn't sitting too near other vacation schemers

    3/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They'd made a real effort with the talks they organised so we got a lot of insight into the firm.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We got an insight into the sort of hours we were expected to work, as well as the more fun, social aspect of the firm. Other vacation schemers got very real life work to do as well so it was definitely a good insight.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I think it helped me understand how the firm works - speaking to trainees and my buddy as well as spending a week immersed in it helped show me this!

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were paid £250 for the week

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • At social events and at focus talks

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social events were great fun, and the focus talks were interesting.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I couldn't get involved as the spaces were booked up, but some of the scheme got to attend the Pro Bono clinic. I also found out about the sport teams the firm has.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend it but I would say that it depends a lot on your supervisor and department. IT would also be good to be aware that although they say you work 9.30-5.30, in practice I was there from about 8.30 - 7.

    4/5
