About You
Lots of very friendly people and I wasn't sitting around photocopying for 2 weeks - I was actually trusted with lots of responsibility - drafting, research etc.
It was clear that the work I was doing was being put immediately to use in client meetings and partner meetings. I wasn't just an extra problem for the firm, I was actually being an asset from the off.
At all levels, people were keen to engage with me and assist with any problems I had. My trainee buddy was lovely, as were all the other trainees, and I was very impressed that the associates and partners wanted to help me out and introduce me to law.
Unlikely to help with my degree, but hopefully the office way of working and some of the terminology I picked up will stand me in good stead if they offer me a job!
The Company
I was never sitting around twiddling my thumbs, and always knew where to be when.
Everyone was extremely approachable, and there was a relaxed office atmosphere - for Wimbledon the week before I was there they had set up a mini tennis court!
There were daily presentations from different practice areas.
Close interaction with trainees, along with lots of social opportunities to talk with them, meant that I gained a comprehensive idea of what it would be like to work in the firm.
There was no pulling the wool over placement students' eyes - it was clear that what we were experiencing was the day to day culture of the office.
Everything Else
£600 for 2 weeks.
We had a partner lunch, and regularly chatted to difference levels of employee within the firm.
Bowling felt a little like a 10 year old's birthday party, but the lunch and pizza making were good.
A mention of netball, but not much else.
Helpful for deciding whether law is for you? Undoubtably.
