The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed the work that I was given. It allowed me to see the different aspects of the role and show how a maths degree can be applied in the world of work.
There were many occasions where team members mentioned that they had forgotten that I was just a placement student and would only be there for a year. I had great feedback including someone saying 'what are we going to do without you? You're a star! '
My line managers we brilliant! I knew I could talk to them if I had any issues and if there was anything I wanted to do, such as shadowing other teams within the organisation, I was encouraged to do it and get involved.
Overall I was busy enough that I always had something to do but not so busy that I was getting stressed out about it.
I was given quite a bit of responsibility in the work I was doing. For example, I was given the responsibility of researching a method and applying it. This was then quality assured by someone else but I was given most of the responsibility for it.
The division in which I was working has given me greater knowledge of surveys and how they work. This will aid me in some of my modules for the final year of my degree. Also the experiences that I have gained have helped me gain more evidence to back my competencies which will help me in future job applications.
The Company
Not so noisy that it was distracting but didn't feel like you couldn't speak.
I didn't know what work I'd be involved in from the start but this gave me a chance to read up on the theory behind the work that I was going to be doing.
Encouraged to do as much training as possible
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen

If I was given the same role then yes but due to the nature of the application process this cannot be guaranteed.
The Culture
Over 20 placement students and others willing to meet up regularly for social occasions.
