About You
This was a reasonable placement, but did fall short of other law vacation schemes
Gelt like a valued member of the team I sat in, with genuine work being delegated to me.
Good support from my trainee and senior mentors, who made contact with me prior to starting the placement.
This placement has reaffirmed my desire for a career in commercial law.
The Company
The placement was almost too structured, we were given timetables for practice presentations and informed that sessions were compulsory in a rather authoritative tone, and that absences were not tolerated. This is in complete contrast to other law placements were sessions were compulsory if there was no urgent/immoveable work in your practice area (e.g. court sessions etc). It made you feel as if you were 11 years old again in school.
Friendly and very open firm
The firm did try and help you excel in your placement where possible
This placement did show you the whole firm, and didn't try and provide a rose tinted view.
As I've said, showed you the whole firm.
Everything Else
£250pw.
Very good social offering, and the partner lunch was brilliant.
Very good social and networking events. Able to talk to senior members of the firm in practice areas that interested you.
Joined in some sports activities with the firm.
I liked the firm and the people at the firm very much. However I felt that you were treated a bit child-like by the graduate recruitment team in their rigid timetabling and the immovability of the sessions. The interviews for this firm as also pre-prescribed to the interviewers so there is no opportunity to shine to your full potential.
