The Role
Highly interesting work, allowing you to get involved with clients straight away. Lots of intern scheme events to help you get to know colleagues and the firm.
Particularly by my sub-team within the whole project team.
Managers, buddies and intern scheme organisers were all happy to make time for chats, and reply to email questions.
Days varied with the ebb an flow of project work - across the 5 weeks the balance was good (and probably reflective of graduate life).
I was able to contribute to papers going to senior client staff, and completely responsible for the production of some documents for use by the project team.
I feel like I gained a really good insight into the organisation and content of consultancy work, which will definitely be useful for my future career. I received constructive feedback about my performance as well.
The Company
I was in a large team of both Deloitte and client employees, so there was plenty of chat and many people to meet. According to other interns this definitely varies across projects though.
The organisers did pretty well given the nature of consultancy work and how busy they are, and events organised always ran well.
There was a 2 day induction which went over some key skills and approaches to consulting, and feedback was given for performance on project and for presentations we gave.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
I've really enjoyed my internship and am very keen to secure a graduate place (interns can have partner interviews at the end of the scheme for this).
The Culture
Some events were centrally organised by the intern scheme(meals and drinks) and we also organised some things ourselves.
Typical London prices.
Pretty good near the central offices, though we moved throughout London anyway.
This was something you had to particularly pursue yourself, through your team, or contacting people from the intranet.
