    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very enjoyable, the team I was placed with were incredibly friendly and helpful and it was always good to be in the office.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given real responsibilities on a daily basis meaning I felt I was contributing and performing useful tasks and adding to the projects.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers were very supportive, allowing me to attend events and training that would be relevant and useful (and sometimes just interesting!) and ensuring that I was happy with the work I was undertaking.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On occasions there were times when I could have been more fully occupied, but being proactive and having access to training materials meant that this was limited and probably unavoidable given the nature of the work in my area.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the opportunity to contribute on a daily basis and given major responsibility for monitoring and updating a large and complex project plan, and then relaying this information to the project team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The overview of the role of project managers, the access to software and training, and being able to meet and spend significant amounts of time with people working in the field was an invaluable introduction.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Being placed in a smaller office than the main HQ meant that it was sometimes quieter than I would like, however, I was able to meet with other interns regularly and attend events in other buildings.

  • Well structured series of events, along with flexibility to experience areas of personal interest.

  • Access to relevant software and training materials was excellent.

  • Graduate scheme very appealing, internship bypasses initial graduate recruitment stage, I start in September!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Regularly met with other interns for lunch and also after work socialising, also interns are invited to graduate social events. Also socialised with colleagues in the office regularly after work.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Typical for central London!

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London, so broad range of things going on all the time.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there was all different work sports teams we could take advantage of and also volunteer work.
