The Role
Taking into account that I do not have an inclination towards automotive, this placement surprised me in a pleasant way and really made me consider applying for a job here after graduation.
The people at Nissan definitely are the greatest asset of this company - everybody was welcoming, they showed great patience and were always ready to lend a hand.
I was offered to take part in training sessions, I received guidance on how to manage my time and juggle with multiple projects while keeping to the deadlines and most importantly I was listened and the tasks assigned to me were tailored to my needs.
The first third of the placement there was a good balance, but with increasing work injected to the department overall my schedule got more busy as well. I do enjoy challenges and having to manage a busy schedule was a great experience for me, but please take this as a point of caution if you are not willing to put in extra effort during the placement.
There was a good balance between the responsibility given to me and layers of approval/review. This allowed me to get involved in project to the full extent, but before submitting any critical work I was reviewing it with my boss.
From a technical point of view this placement will help me go through my next 2 years of uni with more ease and confidence, but the set of skills most helpful for me will be the ones about working in large teams, dealing with a supervisor, adapting quickly and understanding the layers and processes within a company.
The Company
As expected there were days and days, but on average we had a good atmosphere. Even in tense situations there was someone who would say a joke and help us relax.
To be honest I expected a bit more rigid and standard work processes, but in an environment as dynamic as the one at Nissan if the framework does nor allow flexibility the business would suffer.
Both official and on the spot training was provided. There was a good balance between what I was thought and what was needed for me to put in practice.

People seemed pleased with me, but taking into account that I still have 2 years of university before I can seriously discuss the employment opportunity I can not say for certain.
The Culture
There were plenty of occasions to go out with fellow students but I was living quite far away from them so I was not among the ones who were the regulars at the nights out.
Affordable
Milton Keynes had many pubs and places where you can go for a couple of pints, but Cranfield (the village) had only the university student union. For nightlife I recommend living in MK.
There were but I did not take too many. My free time I usually spent visiting friends around UK.
