    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very enjoyable and varied tasks. Plenty of opportunities to get out of the office and work with the cars

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • They were all really helpful, friendly, seemed happy to have an intern about the office

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • approachable when asked questions, usually gave a general outline of what one needed to achieve and let you work on your own unless you were stuck on a problem

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Could be a little boring while settling in but was more enjoyable once you got used to the company

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A reasonable amount, I got to run part of a measurement project but there was the flexibility to take a back seat if the task required more experience

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned a lot about the automotive industry as well as got to work with different software and instruments relevant to my course work. Good experience for future job applications

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • nice to chat to but quite calm and focused most of the time.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • In my department the organisation was great but dealing with the company at large was chaotic, e.g. my access card didn't work for a month so I needed to wait for someone else to get into the building

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a number of on-line courses which were quite informative but the majority of training came from listening to people in my department

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    International Travel

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely consider returning, future circumstances permitting. JLR are very encouraging and enthusiastic about interns returning to the company or returning as graduates

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Really fun, plenty of nights out. really nice people

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Pretty inexpensive, the only significant cost was the commute to work as you site was difficult to walk or cycle to from where the majority of the interns were staying. But there was generally car pooling options which made things cheaper

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Fun, but not particularly special. everything was within walking distance.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Some, e.g. gym or play sports, but the working day could be quite tiring so it depended on your energy. Great bus and train access to Birmingham Airport, London, etc

    3/5
