The Role
A great experience especially in terms of responsibility given, diversity of work provided and people I worked with.
A very helpful set of colleagues who took time out to teach and help me with some of my projects.
A very structured programme set by the management which meant we were provided with guidance and support whenever required.
Depended on the project, but usually fairly busy in the office. Some days were much busier due to deadlines, however I found that I was given more work after completing several tasks to a good standard.
A great deal of responsibility was given such as large commissioning projects which was definitely the highlight of my placement year.
Apart from some technical skills gained, I have learned to be more organised and manage my time better. I have also develop strong communication and presentational skills.
The Company
I would be on a different desk each day which gave me the chance to introduce myself to more people on my floor. People are always happy to take time out to have a coffee and a chat if you ask.
Very structured placement programme set.
Really valuable opportunity for us and I don't think many other firms/companies invest as much as they do for students as they do here. Training was very good and an eye opening experience
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
I received a job offer, the organisation is very friendly with good communication and prospects for promotion.
The Culture
Socials organised, and end of placement celebration dinner. All the interns lived together in student accommodation so plenty of chances to hang out in the evenings after work and during weekends
Working and living in Peterborough, pretty much dependent on where you go and how often. Prices reasonable. Our accommodation was provided.
Easy to get to places by tube/bus/taxi, convenient living in Peterborough
Events organised, activities with other scholars. Also plenty of clubs and networks.
