The Role
Very enjoyable and interesting
Everyone made the effort to make you feel welcome and it felt like you'd been working there for much longer than it actually was
I saw my manager daily and could easily raise any concerns or problems I had
I never was in a situation where I was working outside my work hours, I had projects to work on so it was up to me to schedule my own time to ensure I hit my targets
I was responsible for a number of things that are now being used within the company. However, all my work was checked and suggestions improved as I went.
I've learnt invaluable communication and problem solving skills that will be so useful in the future. I've also learnt to write very complex Excel macros when I did not have this skill before
The Company
Very relaxed, no pressure and a good working environment
The HR team have ensured that the placement has been organised perfectly
I now have an opportunity to return after I graduate on a graduate scheme or have another interview to get onto a leadership scheme. They are prepared to invest in your future.
Could take a job (if my final review doesn't go terribly) on a graduate scheme. However, I am electing to take another interview to try and get onto a leadership scheme. In short, very appealing.
The Culture
I was with 4 other Interns all of whom were up for having fun and going out at the weekends. We played golf a few times after work and occasionally met up in the evenings
Glasgow is a fairly cheap city to live in and costs a little amount to go out. The city is quite beautiful (contrary to what many think) and has every major high street shop you can imagine. I'm thinking I may want to live up here in the future!
Simply spoilt for choice. Although my placement was in East Kilbride, Glasgow city centre has infinite possibilites for nights out, most of which were cheap and such a good laugh. The general public in Scotland make going out feel a lot more fun and safe than in some English cities.
Amongst the other Interns we organised outside of work activites, such as golf and karting. However, there was nothing set by the company in the area of the country that I was working.
