The Role
The work was interesting, I was kept busy with varied work of real importance.
All colleagues made an effort to help as best they could
My manager and supervisor both provided a great deal of support, encouraging me to ask for help whenever I needed it
Workload varied day by day but for the most part there was always a comfortable stream of work
I was allocated a project within in the first few weeks which had genuine business implications
As well as improving technical knowledge, the placement has helped me develop communications skills which I will no doubt use for the rest of my career
The Company
The atmosphere was mostly light-hearted but of course would vary
Both my manager and supervisor were well prepared for my arrival but things such as building access could have been organised by HR a little better
Although my manager was very keen for me to get involved in a number of training schemes, the waiting lists for the schemes were longer than practical for my short internship
Flexi Time
National Travel
Particularly in the department in which I did my placement
The Culture
Particularly in the town I am living in there are a good number of Graduates and Undergrads who are keen to socialise.
Accommodation can be found relatively cheaply although it is difficult to find short term leases. Socialising cheaply is possible
Particularly in the town I was staying in, the nightlife was very good every night of the week
Opportunities were made available to graduates and undergraduates
