About You
I enjoyed it immensely as all the staff I worked with were very supportive and took time to explain complex issues in court hearings etc.
Understandably everyone in the department was very busy and as a student there is a limit to the extent I can assist and help with their individual matters, but what I did help with was received well.
All the associates and trainees were understanably very busy with their client matters, but I still felt I could approach any of the department members for help or work during my week. My supervisor and buddy were very helpful in explaining the details of certain matters when I attended court hearings or meetings.
This week helped me develop essential skills (within the department I was sat in) including what is involved in selecting an expert witness for individual cases and how to approach client advice sheets in an efficient and productive way.
The Company
There were less organised presentations/activities than I have experienced on other placements and I was lucky my department were helpful and ensured I was busy everyday, as I know other students had spare hours with no work.
Great atmosphere within my department and the firm in general; I was included in social activites and invited to pro-bono events outside of work hours.
Only a week placement so no real investment.
Watching the associates and trainees, and helping out with their tasks was a great insight into the day to day workings of the department.
Gave a good insight into the interactions between trainees, associates and partners.
Everything Else
Unfortunately there was no reimbursement, although lunch was provided on two of the days.
Yes there was a networking lunch one day and during the week I was introduced to a range of different employees.
Yes there was a networking lunch one day and during the week I was introduced to a range of different employees.
Yes I was invited to a pro-bono evening at a local centre, which trainees are encouraged to take part in.
Yes, it was a great insight into Taylor Wessing and the workings of an international law firm.
