About You
It was a fantastic opportunity and the work I was given was enjoyable. The team I was in was also up for a good laugh even though they were mega busy.
Numerous people would ask me to carry out certain tasks for them which really help boost my confidence that what I was doing was correct and up to the right standard.
Taylor Wessing has very much an open door policy which is lovely as it means you can ask anyone who is available for help or just general questions about their career.
It gave me an insight into exactly how much work a solicitor does that they dont tell you at Law school, which was good as I enjoyed the extra bits of advice that was given by the solicitors.
The Company
Taylor Wessing does a really great introduction, the Buddy system then helps to guide you along the rest of the placement.
It is an incredibly friendly firm who make you feel like part of the team straight away.
There was no formal training but you would receive guidance and background knowledge for the tasks given to be completed. It helped further my understanding of the department.
You get a real feel of what is it like to work at Taylor Wessing as you get your own desk, email address etc. You can get involved in team meetings and presentations as well.
At the introduction they give you an overview of taylor wessing and provide information about its value and business structure. There is also presentations given about the company that can be attended.
Everything Else
It gives you a clear indiction of what that career is like, I found this invaluble as I know realise how much I would enjoy to be a solicitor in this type of funny, lively firm.
We attended a networking lunch with traineers which was informal so it meant you could get to know them better as well as the other work experience people. At the beginning my buddy introduced me to the team which was great.
Well run, organised and the food was outstanding. The trainees would really good at offering advice on which departments they preferred and what they like about the firm.
Unfortunately the department I was in was working on a major deal so they were maxed out at work and didnt have much time for activities outside of work.
It was a wonderful opportunity, not only was it fun but it was also informative.
