The Role
The placement was varied and very interesting and I got the opportunity to work on a number of differing projects.
Savills really make you feel at home, I changed office several times during my placement and everyone as friendly as the last and made sure I got settled.
I was allocated a menor during my time, but also had various key contacts who I could contact for help while on placement.
There was always plenty to do and always involving different projects so I got a varied taste of what was going on in the department.
I was given a lot of responsibility from manning the office at lunchtime, to helping manage estate staff, emailing and phoning clients to arrange meetings and discuss projects.
The Summer Scheme has helped me confirm my interest in rural property. The skills that I have developed and being able to put into practice what I have learnt at university has been invaluable.
The Company
It was weird changing offices several times between placement, but I was always made to feel welcome.
My mentor was away for half of my placement, but Savills ensured that there were other people who I could contact and another manager oversaw my placement while my Mentor was away.
The company ensured while I was in the office that I was paired with a variety of different people with a wide selection of specialisms, so I was paired with various employees during my time to develop various skills.
Savills would be a great company to work for in the future, because of them being international, with a good graduate scheme. My appraisal went well so hopefully my application for a graduate job in October goes well!
The Culture
Unfortunately there was not much time to socialise as there was only one other graduate in the small team and there were no other placement students.
I had a fairly long commute to work every day because the rural office was the only one for quite a long distance so fuel was a large cost for my time at Savills.
There was not really much going on unfortunately because I was the only placement student in the office.
I have been given many opportunities via Savills following my placement of possibly more work experience and getting involved in some other events. However there were not many activities available because I was the only placement student in the area.
