The Role
The Summer Scheme at Savills was throughly enjoyable. It was well structured, with a mix of insightful talks about the structure of Savills, the graduate recruitment process and the APC and sufficient time within a team to undertake real work for clients.
My team were friendly and helpful. I never felt in the way and felt like they valued my contributions.
I was given sufficient support, however for the most part I carried out work on m own with out too much guidance. I was given just a brief insight into the work for me to do and given a chance to have a crack at in on my own. I was expected to hit the ground running.
The workload did increase considerably throughout the duration of the placement, and on some occasions I felt unable to go to Summer Scheme talks/events in order to complete work. However, this is likely to be a fair reflection on how busy you would be working full time at Savills.
From the offset i was responsible for my own work. Althought I was supervised, any research or reports I undertook was my sole responsibility in terms of quality, accuracy and deadlines.
I do belive that this placement has helped me to develop important skills for a career in property. At Savills they expect Summer Scheme students to undertake real work for the clients, you're not just set training tasks. This helps not only in developing a skill-set specific to your job role, but also communication and time-managment skills that are important in all jobs.
The Company
The team I worked in and all the other people I met throuhgout seemed friendly, open and relaxed.
The internship was very well organised and structured.
There were a number of talks and networking opportunities
Company Parties/Events
There is no link between the placement and a full time job, everyone must apply through the full graduate recruitment process.
