The Role
The nature of work during my placement was very challenging and interesting.
Everyone at the office was very friendly and did their best to be helping out as much as they could.
Relevant material was provided with each task and a very informative introduction/background given.
As a summer student I was involved into quite a few projects, therefore there was always work to be done. Any gaps between various tasks were filled with gaining some knowledge in the field I was working in by reading papers.
The responsibility was quite high at times.
I have gained a good command of using numerous software packages and I got familiar with quite a few codes of practice used within the industry. The skills I have developed during the time of my summer placement will definitely make me feel more confident in the final year of University and in my future engineering career.
The Company
The company promotes the teamwork to a very large extent - there was a lot of cooperation going on at all times. I always felt like I can get any issues sorted in no time, since everyone was keen to help any time.
The summer placement was very well organised - starting from setting up my own desk/computer and finishing with the tasks I was involved to.
I had my own desk and used quite a few software packages that were of a high demand. Also, the company had organised many events that were covered by the company, including lunch/dinner and presentation-type activities.
