The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at IBM and the 13 months flew by!
I felt valued in the events we worked on and organised especially through the client feedback gained after the events.
I was given lots of support and guidance from my manager.
Depending on the events we were working on we were sometimes extremely busy, whereas other smaller events were a good balance within our small team.
I worked within a very small team of just myself and my manager therefore we shared the workload and I had to take full responsibility when covering for my manager.
Great experience working with the UKI Marketing team and attending Marketing workshops and training with outside agencies.
The Company
A lot of people work from home at IBM so it is very varied, some days it is very quiet and lots of empty desks.
Lots of support from my Personal Development Manager with 2, 6, 9 and 12 month reviews.
I was given the opportunities to volunteer at "Giveback" external events and do shadowing of other colleagues in Marketing which was really useful.
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I have reapplied to the graduate scheme with IBM and am really hoping to return.
The Culture
There were several intern events organised throughout the year to bring placement students together and facebook pages to help with sorting accommodation before starting.
Expensive, but very nice area!
Good
It was up to you to look for these opportunities.
