About You
I really enjoyed the insight. 3 weeks in the same seat enabled me to get stuck into some 'proper' work.
My team were extremely friendly and involved me in their work, but also the 'office banter'.
As a non-law student, I received huge amounts of support, especially from the Knowledge Team who provided excellent training on the
When I undertake the GDL and LPC, I will use all the skills on legal databases I have acquired over the last 3 weeks.
The Company
Excellent structure. The first week enables you to get to grips with the legal databases and get used to life at the firm. The second week includes departmental talks which are well structured. In the final week Project Nabarro properly kicks in. Very well structured.
Extremely friendly. Everyone was approachable and the atmosphere was one of hard work, but also good fun.
The Knowledge Department especially were extremely helpful in personally providing me with extra advice and guidance as a non-law student.
I was in constant contact with the trainee in my department so was able to see exactly what she did on a day to day basis. I was also able to observe the roles associates and partners played and the work they undertook.
The brand 'Clarity Matters' is everywhere across the firm. Clarity does actually matter though. It goes into every aspect of the work at the firm and the culture revolves around clarity.
Everything Else
I was able to see what went on and was able to see how cases progressed. I witnessed a number of different activities which took place on a day to day basis.
Yes. There was a Partner lunch, drinks with members of the firm and trainee socials where you could meet trainees from different departments.
The first social was bowling. It was great fun and was good to compete against the trainees! The second social was a meal and drinks followed by the comedy club which was a great laugh. In 3 weeks there could perhaps have been more opportunities for the summer students to meet socially with the trainees.
Yes. At Nabarro there is a huge focus of BD and CSR. There are a number of charity events that anyone can get involved in. Also, netball and football teams play once a week.
Yes. If you want a good insight into working in a commercial law firm, this is for you. Spending 3 weeks in a firm is rather rare. It enables you to gain a much better insight than shorter schemes.
