The Role
Overall the internship has been very enjoyable. The organised training and information sessions and evening events throughout have been a particular highlight.
Although interns are of course not going to be given the most crucial work, I was made to feel that the project I was working on would be a beneficial contribution towards the team's overall goal.
My assigned line manager and mentor were willing to give both technical help and career guidance throughout when not too busy with their own work. The recruitment officers were always willing to answer questions.
Once up and running on my project, I was able to work at a good pace. However issues regarding access to the necessary tools and development environments hindered progress initially for a couple of weeks. I believe these issues were mostly because my team did not use the development environment used most commonly throughout the company.
I was trusted to work on my project throughout.
I suspect the experience of working in a multi-national organisation will benefit my career in the future. The technical aspects of the internship have been rather specific and may not come up again exactly in academia or work environments, however being part of a professional development team and experiencing first hand how one functions has undoubtedly been beneficial.
The Company
The events organised events for interns were excellent, and after work drinks were quite a regular occurrence.
The general organisation of the internship was excellent and the recruiters were always willing to answer questions.
There was a full week of training at the beginning of the internship and other sessions throughout. Some of these were more useful than others but overall they were definitely a positive learning experience.

Mid-review went well so I'm hopeful.
The Culture
As well as the organised events, other interns were generally up for after work drinks, nights out and weekend excursions.
It's London so it's expensive, but the internship pay helps with this.
It's London, so there was plenty to choose from in terms of areas to go out in and clubs/bars to go to.
There were community volunteering days and a touch rugby team to get involved with.
