The Role
I found it an extremely enjoyable experience, doing a variety of exciting work alongside friendly and talented people.
My colleagues were all extremely welcoming and happy to invite me into their team. They gave me great opportunities and let me work on a variety of projects.
The support network was impeccable. I was given a buddy and a manager, both of whom were very attentive and gave me support throughout the process.
Most of the time I was busy with a variety of work. I never felt overloaded. A few times especially at the start I was not that busy but I was able to ask around and it would not take long to be given more work.
I attended client meetings and helped with the prep for a lot of them. I felt like I was given lots of responsibility doing relevant work throughout my six weeks.
I learnt loads about the corporate environment, technical areas of tax and the networks that need to be created. These skills will stand me in good stead for the rest of my career.
The Company
It was a great place to work, people worked hard but there was always time for a chat and a good laugh.
Throughout the internship everything worked like clock work. Our training, office induction, development days all worked perfectly.
The levels of training and time spent by senior figures working with me meant they invested lots of resources in me.
I was offered a graduate position at the end of my internship.
The Culture
A brilliant social scene. We often had lunch together, went for drinks after work and had a few nights out together. I made some good friends in a short period of time.
In Birmingham the costs of socialising were not too bad, especialy in comparison to London.
There were plenty of bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs to visit.
During my short internship, I played for the company cricket team and spent two days on a team away day at Rutland Water. We went cycling and fishing and enjoyed a night of socialising.
